Inventions

http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/exhibitions/starrymessenger/images/1181732.jpg
I actually created the armillary sphere which helped represent the universe with the planets globes. I had created many in my studies to help me visualize what I was trying to prove. I am a well respected astronomer, where I had invented the theory that the sun was the center of the universe. I published my theory in the De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres). I had divided my book into six sections explaining my theory and helping others understand my research for the future. This invention had create the beginning of astronomer's research. After my discovery other astronomers could finally continue with their research correctly and efficiently. Knowing my research other astronomers were given more exact locations to their studies. Before my research I don't believe that astronomers could be as accurate. With my information my colleges could use my calculations to get a more exact destination on their research. Though I do admit my research was slightly off since my discovery claimed that the planets moved in circular motions. It was not until a fellow astronomer named Kepler advanced my research proving that the planetary movements were in fact elliptical. Though without my research he would have never discovered such a thing and would have never become famous. Though I congratulate all of my successful colleagues that were able to help the world evolve advance and grow. I am glad that my love for astronomy has helped benefit the world in ways I do not know. Though, I regret publishing my work the year of my death, because I could have improved my research and continued to help man-kind.

Inner thoughts

I had created the heliocentric system and if it weren't for me we would be lost on the hours of the day. We wouldn't know that the earth rotated around the sun in 365 days. We would be uncertain of what a year was. Now we all probably would have still thought that earth was the center of the universe. I would like to gladly inform everyone that God's intention was not to have earth the center of the universe. God's intention was to have the sun the center of the universe with all the planets revolving around it. I had set the base for other astronomers to go out and continue my research. All the other famous astronomers that continued my research would have been lost and confused without my theory. I would just like to say everyone who believed I was crazy to dare challenge the Ptolemaic system. Those who laughed and smirked believing I would make a fool out of myself. Look at me now I am one of the most famous astronomers in the world. Everyone who loves astronomy would not have been able to understand the subject without my theory. Without me scientists would be 1000 years slower to probably discover my research. My work has spread throughout the world and affected today's research. Overall my work was important to me and my discoveries are still important today in discussions and new discoveries yet to be made. How I have helped astronomy grow throughout the years. I would just like to thank my uncle who took care of me and who I owe for my discoveries.

Conflict with criticisim

Now I admit I am a very timid guy who is afraid of what others think of me. So when I heard that people felt my theory was foolish I was too frightened to publish it. I know what you people may be thinking, oh he is a grown man why is he afraid to speak his mind. I was afraid of being condemned and mocked even from those who knew me. I did not want to be the laughing stock of the whole country. So I was left to defending my pride and remaining silent about my new theory. I was determined to publish my theory before I died and when I did so it led me to my death bed. I was sentenced to death for my new theory one thing I was very terrified of. I was shunned from the church where my theory had shown the church was incorrect. Of course the church was not too happy about my theory and argued I had no clue what I was talking about. They wanted to show I was a mad man, because if this proved the church was wrong then who knows what else they lied about. The church saw me as a threat, as Marin Luther a religious reformer stated "the fool who will turn the whole science of astronomy upside down." I was mocked as I feared as a school composed an unappealing play about me. I am embarrassed though my research has done nothing but good. So now I have build up my confidence and my ability to speak freely.

My discoveries

One day when I was studying our atmosphere. I discovered something that other people believed to be irrational. I decided to criticize and completely changed the Ptolemaic system though I had done so almost before my death. I had discovered the heliocentric system which states that the sun stayed motionless at the center of the universe and not the earth. I realized that the earth had turned on its own little axis. Every one full turn was 24 hours and rotates around the sun every 365 days. This is where we got our time of day as well as the days in a year. My work is more hypothetical though now a day’s people say I had used the Pythagorean calculations to come up with my research. Though I was timid I was almost less accurate than the Ptolemaic system because I insisted on circular orbits. I had also organized the order of the whole solar system and managed to come up with the planetary movements. From this discovery I gained the name Father of modern astronomy. Since I was bashful I was very secretive about my work that just helped me increase in popularity back in the day. I had done countless observations and was known as a revolutionary figure all just because of my discovery of the heliocentric system. This discovery had given me respect from others and recognition for my discovery. Though this discovery had also brought me misfortune as well, I was said to have destroyed astronomy and corrupted the people's mind. Even so I am proud of my accomplishment.

Me, Myself, and I

Hello bloggers, allow me to introduce myself. I was born on February 19, 1473 in Torun, Poland. When I was young I was born into a family of merchants. I was the youngest of the four there was Andreas, Barbara, Katharina, and me. I was well off so it was not entirely all bad, though sadly my father died when I was quite young. I am able to speak Latin, Polish, and German equally fluent, but I also know how to speak a little Greek and Italian. Even though I was young I was brought up by my uncle who I owe for my education, career, and security.

I had attended at the University of Cracow from 1491 to 1494 though had no classes in astronomy. I know you all are probably asking yourselves then how did I become one of the world's most famous astronomer. Well its simple really, it wasn't until I began school before I had became fascinated with astronomy. So I began to collect books on astronomy and mathematics.

Later I returned back to Torun in 1494. In 1496, my uncle helped me become a canon or priest in Frauenburg. I went to Bologna almost straight after to study canon law, where I became enticed to the works of Domenico Maria de Novara, an astronomer.I remained in Italy where I attended the Jubilee. There I spent my time to record planetary positions.

I was sent to Padua to study medicine, but I soon transferred to the University of Ferrara, where I was able to receive my degree in canon law in 1503. Only then did begin to study medicine in Padua which extended my leave until 1506. After returning I remained at my uncle's castle and served as his own personal doctor and secretary.

During my spare time I enjoy to study astronomy and mathematics. Since I can speak 6 languages I also enjoy translating documents. As a canon I was occupied with in various affairs, including legal and medical, but especially administrative and financial matters.

Over a period of time I had become a governor, military leader, diplomat, and economists.  Though they were my major jobs I was not recognized for it. I was recognized as a astronomer because of my heliocentric theory, which is the theory that the sun was the center and was stationary in the center of this universe.I was restricted to continue my research only during the spare time I had.

At first I was thought to be insane challenging the Ptolemaic system then I discovered I was right. After that many people respected me acknowledging me for my brilliant discovery. I had changed the work of astronomy. Though I was criticized by others who strongly disliked my work. They stated I was a fool and messed up astronomy for good.

Eventually I was put in jail for my heliocentric theory, when many people still believed in the geocentric theory. The king gave me the death sentence. Though I was honored the doctors placed my first edition book beside me, where I woke up a few days later and died peacefully.
